I am currently a sophomore student at the University of Maryland studying Finance in the Robert H. Smith School of Business. I am from Bethesda, Maryland, and the oldest of five children in my family. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports and listening to music. Joining public leadership has been a vital part of my growth here at UMD. It has allowed me to break out of my comfort zone and get involved in many new experiences. Being a part of public leadership has helped me develop my public speaking and teamwork skills. Coming into college, I was not very confident about speaking in front of a large class or leading a large group. Everyday activities that I completed in my public leadership classes helped me develop these skills and increase my confidence. Workshops and experiences in public leadership helped me learn about myself and my tendencies, allowing me to understand my strengths and personal leadership style. I am grateful for my time as a scholar so far. I have met a passionate community of students and instructors who have made my first years in college meaningful and memorable. For the rest of my time as a scholar, I want to enjoy time with the friends I have made and continue developing leadership skills that are important for my future. I want to make the most out of my college experience academically and socially and keep growing as a person!
